Liquids in hand luggage

Liquids in hand luggage are only allowed in certain amounts

Examples of liquids:

  • Make-up
  • Perfumes
  • Creams
  • Shaving foams
  • Deodorants
  • Gels
  • Sprays
  • Shampoos
  • Lotions
  • Pastes
  • Oils
  • Mascara
  • Drinks
  • Soups
  • Syrups

These liquids are only allowed to take with you with a maximum volume of 100ml. If you take more than one liquid container with you, it needs to be stored in a transparent plastic bag with a maximum volume of 1l. This plastic bag needs to be closed und needs to be handed separately to the staff in the security check. One 1l plastic bag is allowed per person. Medications and specific food (e.g. baby food), which are necessary during flight can be stored outside of the plastic bag. The necessity of medications needs to be provable by a medical certificate. The volume of the liquid containers is relevant, not the actual content. That way it is not allowed to take a half full 175ml lotion with you in the hand luggage. Duty-free products, which are bought in the EU or on board of a European airline, are allowed to take with you in a tamperprooved container as long as you have the receipt.

Security check

Important information about hand luggage and checks of persons

Security controls are necessary to ensure your safety at the airport and on board your flight.
Whilst at the airport you will pass through two security check points, one for hold luggage before check-in and another for hand luggage controls before entering the gate area. All luggage will be x-rayed.

To quicken up the proceedings at security controls before entering the gate, we recommend to prepare whilst waiting in the queue. Please take off coats and jackets, remove any content from pockets and place all loose items in one of the provided boxes for x-ray screening. Cameras, (including digital, small electrical items such as mobile phones, MP3 players and game consoles) can remain in the bag for screening. However, all laptops and large electrical items must be removed from the bag and placed in a separate tray. Passengers carrying these items should expect closer checks.
